CS Hassan Joho, a family friend, maverick Nairobi Senator Sifuna, Babu Owino, Oparanya all want to topple Oburu.
Why?
Silently, they are grumbling that ODM is not a family outfit to be passed on to the elder Raila brother.
They rightfully claim they are the pillars that converted ODM into a mass movement that it is in 2026. And they are directly angling for the position of party leader.
Reason? The fear is gone. The political terror Raila wielded is now 6 feet underground. And his brother lacks the energy and charisma to terrorise President William Ruto the way Raila mowed down Presidents Moi, Kibaki, Uhururuto, Uhuru and now William Ruto.
And what is at stake in ODM?
30 per cent of Government jobs via briad based arrangement, 20 per cent of government business and grants that cannot be quantified.
For starters, ODM, read Raila Odinga was the direct beneficiary of the largesse in business and tenders initially allocated to deposed DP Rigathi Gachagua.
The opportunities are spread accross all the sectors of the economy.
But the Oginga family has for over 5 decades been a key player in the energy sector through various established oil and gas companies.
Joho family is itself deeply involved in business thst spans all the sectors of the economy. From the multi billion deep sea fishing to EPZ’s, bulk handling and critical strategic supplies to KPA, the family has cut an niche for itself.
In Kenya, political power is fuelled and maintained through tendepreneurship and strategic supplies to various sectors of the economy.
ODM has gate crashed into Government since 2007. And benefitted immerself in development. The current state of Kisumu County and other Western Kenya counties is evidence of the political stakes.
Maverick former DP yells that President Ruto is responsible for the turmoil in ODM. But suffice is to say that regions that voted for ODM are seeking independence.
The real battle for Oburu is in Luo Nyanza where Babu Owino wants to replace Raila.
Shock however awaits him.
Part of the reason why Gachagua was ousted is because he wants to outshine Uhuru as the leader of GEMA.
Big political boys and Presidents abhor commoners seeking to gate crash into the power table.
That is why Uhuru has refused to retire and is busy pulling political strings as he waits for another Kenyatta to emerge…
Oburu is the leader of the Oginga clan. But politically, Raila was the king.
His niece, Winnie Odinga knows this. Winnie has been politically radicalised and wants to inherit her father. Do you remember Mutula Kilonzo? His mantle is with his son.
Oburu docket in politics and business was to act as the PH barometer…and deal with possible Raila excesses.
He was playing the role of Muhoho Kenyatta, a behind the scenes operator.
With Raila gone, and a political deal on the table vide broad based, Oburu had to be confirmed as Party leader to afford time for planning.
Other than a section of Odinga family, everybody is seeking to kill ODM.
Gachagua wants the party to implode so that some of the particles land at DCP.
Kalonzo wants ODM dead so that he can fish in the lake freely. UDA can do with new political faces with weaker bargaining powers.
With ODM in ICU, UDA is afforded time to roam the country freely…
Confidence is oozing freely in the ruling coalition as bitter divorce papers are assembled at Orange House.
Oburu is on his way out. Worse, his own children Winnie and company could be the co perpetrators.

Sifuna is smelling an opportunity to avenge for his kin, Wamalwa.
