Counsel representing former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged the court to award him full salary and benefits, arguing that his entitlements under the law can be clearly determined.
Addressing the court, lawyer John Njomo stated that the legal team had undertaken a detailed assessment of what Gachagua earned while in office, alongside what he would have been entitled to had he completed his full term.
“We have listed what the Deputy President was earning, what he was entitled to, and what his salary could have been if he had served for five years,” Njomo submitted.

He told the court that the team had calculated the expected earnings and benefits in line with legal provisions governing the office of the Deputy President.
“We have therefore calculated the salary expectations and benefits that Gachagua was entitled to under the law, and we pray that the court may allow and award them,” he added.
The submissions form part of ongoing proceedings in which Gachagua is seeking relief following his removal from office, with the court expected to determine whether he is entitled to compensation.
