ODM Rebels Ordered to Respect Raila or Quit

Siaya political leaders have challenged those who oppose the leadership of Orange Democratic Movement party boss Raila Odinga to form their own party, claiming that there is no vacuum in the region’s political leadership.

Governor James Orengo, flanked by Ugunja MP, Opiyo Wandayi, declared that the petty attacks on the ODM leadership must halt, and those seeking favour from the government must do so with respect.

They were speaking at the funeral of the late Rosa Athieno Amoth in Pap Boro village, Usonga constituency. The deceased was the mother of Dr. Patrick Amoth, the acting Director General of Health.

Raila Odinga, according to Orengo, is still the undisputed political kingpin of not only Nyanza and western regions, but the entire country, and must be treated with the respect he deserves.

“We shall not accept a few people to undermine Raila Odinga, leaders from both the national and county governments must respect him,” he remarked.

Wandayi, on the other hand, stated that as long as Odinga is alive, people who believe there is a political leadership vacuum in the region are dreaming.

“We want to assure you that any such rebellion will be crushed convincingly. If you feel you have the capacity to challenge ODM, please go ahead and form your own party,” Wandayi

The minority leader of the National Assembly has urged the government to confirm Dr. Amoth as Director General of Health, claiming that he has demonstrated his skills throughout the years.

A section of ODM legislators in Luo-Nyanza have been pushing for Raila Odinga’s retirement from active politics.
