ODM Warning To Violent Politicians

ODM party has vowed to disqualify aspirants who incite violence during campaigns.

The party’s National Executive Council (NEC) has issued directions to the National Elections Board, which is chaired by Catherine Muma, to identify tangible grounds to reject candidates who foment violence.

ODM Chairperson Mbadi, speaking to KNA in Homa Bay, indicated that the action was intended to restore peace and sanity to the party, particularly during nominations.

“For years ODM has been branded as chaotic and violent during nominations and we are about to change this narrative as we have directed the board to first eliminate violent aspirants so as to pave way for other contenders,” stated Mbadi.

ODM has been in the news for violent primaries in nearly all its elections. This is due to sharp division among aspirants who instead of consulting the party, square out in public.

Mbadi said this year would be different as the parties would seek consensus among aspirants on weaker hopefuls giving way to stronger candidates.
