Coast Regional Police Commander Rashid Yakub is seeking to withdraw assault case against Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.
The officer is no longer interested to pursue the case and the Director of Public Prosecutions is now seeking to with draw it.
Sonko was scheduled to appear in court today January 21, to plead to assault charges arising from his dramatic December arrest in Voi.
Police Spokes man Charles Owino had assured the public that the Governor will face the law for his abusive, unruly and violent behavior during arrest.
“Due to Sonko’s lack of cooperation during the arrest, the National police have resolved to file extra charges against the Governor,” he said following the Ikanga Airstrip incident.
Sonko was arrested after the DPP charged him with graft.
