Musalia Mudavadi, the Amani National Congress leader, has downplayed the lull in the One Kenya Alliance.
In an early morning interview aired on Radio Jambo, Musalia said he is still in talks to put together a powerful alliance that would give ODM’s Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto a run for their money in the 2022 presidential election.
“The talks are ongoing. We have not closed the conversations. We are also reaching out to other Kenyans,” Musalia said.
“There is a momentum that is building,” the ANC leader added, dismissing claims that OKA may be a stalemate. Kenya’s history and coalitions are distinct. Let’s put an end to this hurrying problem.”
The Amani leader said he was unconcerned about reports that the succession to President Uhuru Kenyatta would be a two-horse contest between Raila and Ruto.
“I am unconcerned. I’m going to concentrate on selling my insurance coverage. The issue of a two-horse race is irrelevant. We are not helping ourselves if we suggest that some of us are squandering our time.”
When asked which candidate he would support in a run-off, Musalia stated Kenyans would pick who would be the country’s next president.
