The late Keroche Breweries heiress Tecra Muigai’s boyfriend, Omar Lali has been charged over her murder.
The matter was presented at Lamu Court.
Tecra died on May 2 at a private house in Shella, Lamu Island under suspicious circumstances. Accoridng to reports, Tecra accidentally fell down and was thereafter rushed to a local dispensary.
She was airlifted to Nairobi for treatment, before she succumbed to her injuries.
Mr Lali was later arrested after it was suspected that he had pushed Ms. Muigai.
The court rejected an application by the police to continue holding the suspect since the investigating authorities had decined to press any charges against him.
The suspect Omar, is said to have given conflicting accounts of the story, initially saying Tecra tumbled down the stairs before later changing his account to say she tripped in the bathroom.
Tecra is the daughter of Keroche Breweries Chairman Joseph Karanja and CEO Tabitha Karanja.
Her untimely death is a big blow to the family, as the company continues to tackle cases of huge Tax evasion claims by the Kenya Revenue Authority.
