One-Month-old infant among new COVID-19 cases, as cases near 35,000

Kenya has announced 212 new Covid-19 cases after testing 3,037 samples. This raises the total number of cases to 34,705 – By Gerald Gekara.

Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman confirmed the youngest is one-month-old infant the oldest is 76 years.

132 of the new cases are males while 80 are female.

In terms of counties; Nairobi (96), Mombasa (21), Busia (10), Kiambu (11), Uasin Gichu (9), Laikipia (9) Taita Taveta (8), Narok (8), Machakos (7), Nakuru (7), Kilifi (6), lamu (6), Kajiado (4), Bomet (2), while Bunguma, Kericho, Kwale, Migori, Murang’a, Nyeri, West Pokot, Meru reporting (1) case each.

A further 195 patients have been discharged; 141 from the home-based program, and 54 from the various hospital facilities. This now pushes the total recoveries 20,644.

However, four patients have succumbed to the disease, raising the total number of fatalities to 585.

CAS Rashid urged Kenyans to shun social gatherings that could lead to mass contraction of COVID-19 in the country.
