The Kenya Olympics Games operations team will this Tue 21st meet start to strategies ahead of the postponed Olympics games in Japan due next year July 23 to August.
The games were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic
Head of delegation Waithaka Kioni will in a fortnight start chairing the operations team virtual meetings.
The National Olympics Committee of Kenya also decided to have experts talk to the athletes via video links on different aspects of games.
NOC_K secretary General Francis Mutuku disclosed that in a meeting held on Saturday, they resolved that the body will use the current ban on sporting activities to develop games operational manual.
“We shall have the discussion weekly through teleconference,” said Mutuku, adding that areas they will focus on are fitness and psychological issues in sports.
“We have realized many athletes are finding it a challenge to train since they have never been in this position before. Some have ended up getting stressed and need help,” said Mutuku, adding that sports federations and the media will also be included in the discussions.
On the manual Mutuku noted that it will help the country prepare for future Olympics without pressure.
The manual will be able to explain our country’s preparations after every stage from four years to one year and the month countdown,” said Mutuku. “It will be able to explain what should be in place throughout and when teams should be selected.”
The game’s manual will also guide the athletes on through Olympics with details and roles of certain officers like chief de mission
Besides Nock intends to use the platform to support governments’ efforts in the fight against COVID_19.
