Oral Cholera Vaccination Campaign Takes Off in the 8 Selected Counties

The Oral Cholera Vaccination campaign has taken off in 8 sub-counties in Kenya. 1.7 million doses of vaccines will be available for Mandera East, Moyale, Kajiado East, Kamukunji, Embakassi East, Suba South, Dadaab Refugee Camps, Machakos GK Prisons and Machakos School of the Deaf.

From this morning to Aug 12, a total of 2, 122 vaccinators and 1061 volunteers will be providing the Oral Cholera Vaccine to communities 8 sub-counties.

The Ministry of Health, World Health  Organisation and partners are calling for communities to turn up in large numbers to receive vaccine.

They have also called for the maintenance of safety measures through boiled or treated water and cooked food.

Kenya has battled the disease last 10 months but the OCV campaigns which have been conducted in 26 counties have helped reduce its spread and illness which affected  11,897 persons with a loss of  196
