Kapseret Member of Parliament, Oscar Sudi has failed to appear in court for the hearing of his case involving forged academic credentials.
Sudi’s attorneys told Chief Magistrate Felix Kombo that their client would be unable to attend today’s hearing.
Thomas Ruto, Collins Kiprono, and George Wajackoya are on the legal team.
Through his attorneys, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) politician asked the court to hear the case without him present.
During the hearing, the prosecution introduced their third witness, Simon Cherop, a P1 Teacher at Tulwopng’etuny Primary School, for cross-examination.
Simon Cherop told the Court that Oscar Sudi joined the school in 1995 as a class 6 pupil. He proceeded to say that at that time, Sudi used a different name from the one appearing in his academic credentials.
According to the teacher, Sudi attended the school for two years and transferred and he confirmed to the court that he cannot attest to where Sudi joined after transferring nor could confirm whether he completed secondary school.
Sudi’s name did not appear on the list of students who took the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam in 2006, according to a Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) representative who testified in court in Nairobi in October 2021.
Nabiki Kashu, a KNEC official, testified before Kombo in a case in which the politician was accused of forging his KCSE certificate and claiming Sudi’s certificate was from a non-existent institution.
Sudi produced a KCSE certificate from Highway Secondary School, according to the witness, but records from that institution revealed that it belonged to another student who took his exams at Parklands Secondary School in 2006.
