Aircraft Incident at Wilson Airport: Dash 8 Plane Veers Off Runway, All Passengers Safe

By Peter John

An aircraft operated by Auric Air/ALS veered off the runway while landing at Wilson Airport on Friday evening, prompting a swift emergency response.

All passengers and crew on board were safely evacuated, with no injuries reported.

The aircraft, identified as a De Havilland Canada Dash 8-100 (registration 5Y-BXI), had arrived from Kisumu International Airport and touched down at approximately 8:55 p.m. when the incident occurred.

According to Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), the plane was carrying 39 passengers.

The authority confirmed that despite the runway excursion, all individuals on board were accounted for and unharmed.

First responders were quickly deployed to the scene, with emergency teams seen evacuating passengers shortly after the aircraft came to a stop.

Recovery operations are ongoing, with the aircraft remaining at the site as investigations begin.

ALS is known for operating flights on behalf of humanitarian organizations, including the World Food Programme (WFP) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), highlighting the critical role such carriers play in regional and humanitarian logistics.

Despite the incident, operations at Wilson Airport continued as normal, with KAA reassuring the public that safety protocols were promptly activated and effectively managed.

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) had not issued an official statement by the time of publication. Aviation authorities are expected to launch a full investigation to determine the cause of the runway excursion.

Wilson Airport remains one of East Africa’s busiest hubs for domestic and light aircraft operations, serving both commercial and humanitarian aviation needs.

More details are expected as authorities continue their assessment of the incident.

Heavy rains expected from Friday to Sunday -Nairobi residents warned

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall advisory for Nairobi, warning that ongoing rains are expected to intensify across several parts of the county.

In the advisory, the weatherman warned that heavy downpours would start on Friday, March 20 at 3pm through to Monday, March 23, at 9am, with rainfall expected to peak over the weekend.

During this period, Met said the rains would be the heaviest between Friday and Sunday, and then it will begin decreasing on Monday.

“Ongoing rainfall across several parts of Nairobi County is forecast to intensify, with accumulations exceeding 20 mm in 24 hours from March 20 to March 23 2026. The heaviest rainfall is most likely between 20 March and 22 March 2026, gradually decreasing in intensity on 23 March 2026,” the statement read.

The department noted that while rainfall is expected to ease toward the end of the period, showers will continue affecting various areas of the county.

Areas expected to be most affected include Westlands, Dagoretti South, Dagoretti North, Kibra, Lang’ata, Kamukunji, Mathare, Roysambu, Ruaraka and parts of Makadara.

The advisory also highlighted heightened risk in informal settlements and low-lying zones along the Nairobi River, Ngong River and Mathare River, as well as the Central Business District and sections of the Nairobi Expressway.

Residents in the affected areas have been urged to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures to avoid potential dangers associated with the heavy rains.

“Residents of the affected areas in Nairobi County are strongly advised to stay alert for potential floods, flash floods, and poor visibility on roads and pathways. Flood waters can appear suddenly even in locations that have not experienced heavy local rainfall, especially in downstream and low-lying zones,” the statement added.

The Met department further cautioned against risky behaviour during storms, including walking or driving through moving water and seeking shelter under trees or near metallic surfaces due to the risk of lightning strikes.

It also advised residents to keep away from flooded areas that may be in contact with electrical installations and to unplug non-essential electrical devices during storms.

Iranian man arrested trying to enter Faslane nuclear base

An Iranian man has been arrested with a woman after trying to enter the Faslane naval base, home to the UK’s nuclear-armed submarines.

Police Scotland said a 34-year-old man and 31-year-old woman were arrested at HM Naval Base Clyde at about 17:00 on Thursday.

The woman’s nationality is unknown, but it is understood she is not Iranian.

The Royal Navy said the suspects “unsuccessfully attempted” to enter the base, near Helensburgh in Argyll and Bute.

A spokesperson added: “As the matter is subject to an ongoing investigation, we will not comment further.”

It is understood that the pair did not try to force their way into the base.

They asked if they could enter but were refused permission and were arrested shortly afterwards. Police Scotland said its inquiries were ongoing.

The Faslane base, on the Gare Loch about 25 miles (40km) north-west of Glasgow, is the home of all the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarines.

This includes the UK’s four Vanguard-class ballistic missile submarines which carry Trident nuclear missiles.

The arrests come after the US and Israel launched wide-ranging strikes on Iran, killing the country’s supreme leader on 28 February.

Iran has responded by launching attacks on Israel and US-allied states in the Gulf.

Defence secretary John Healey said the UK was reviewing its terror threat level. It remains at “substantial” meaning an attack is “likely”.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, said the UK had “stepped up protections for British bases and personnel to their highest level.”

It was not clear whether he was referring only to bases in the Middle East and the Mediterranean or to all bases at home and abroad.

Faslane has long been the focus of anti-war protests from groups such as the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND).

A peace camp has been based just outside the site since 1982.

The camp began as a protest against the Thatcher government’s decision to purchase the Trident nuclear missile system, but remains nearly 40 years later.

The community, composed of residents living in caravans and temporary structures, holds regular anti-nuclear demonstrations, vigils, and direct actions against nuclear weapons.

Faslane’s Vanguard submarines are the sole platform for the UK’s nuclear weapons and are due to be replaced by the new Dreadnought-class submarines after 2030.

It is also the home of Astute-class nuclear powered but conventionally armed attack submarines.

The UK’s stock of nuclear warheads is based nearby at the Royal Naval Armaments Depot (RNAD) Coulport on nearby Loch Long.

The UK has operated continuous at-sea deterrence since 1969, with first Polaris and then Trident missiles stored on and launched from nuclear-powered submarines with the capacity to remain submerged at sea for months.

Snoop Dogg wants to turn Swansea into Vegas – but some think ‘he should leave us alone’

He’s the chart-topping American rapper who’s taken on the challenge of co-owning Swansea City FC.

And Snoop Dogg’s ambitions don’t end there – he has announced he wants to turn the city into the “Vegas of Wales”.

But the people who live there aren’t so sure: “I think he should leave us alone to be honest”, one said, with another adding that “Swansea is perfect the way it is”.

It comes as Swansea council itself has announced a £20m UK government-funded facelift for its Civic Centre, with proposals for an aquarium, lido, bars and shops.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, Snoop said he was “not playing” with his aim to get world-class chefs, hotels and clubs to the city, adding: “I want to bring a little fun for my people in Swansea, but when the players start winning trophies I am gonna need somewhere for them to celebrate in style.”

Reuters A white sportscar travels down the Las Vegas strip. The Eiffel Tower replica can be seen lit up, along with a hot air balloon type structure and large cream buildings, with palm trees lining the road.
Las Vegas is famous for its casinos, glamour and party lifestyle

Chart-topping Snoop, whose three-decade career includes 16 Grammy nominations, is a minority owner of Swansea City, alongside American business woman Martha Stewart and Croatian footballer Luka Modrić.

He visited the club last month in his first high-profile appearance since joining the Championship side, watching as Swansea drew 1–1 with Preston North End before taking part in a pitch-side lap of honour to greet fans.

The night before he held a private Vegas-like party in an industrial estate on the outskirts of Swansea filled with local influencers – perhaps an early sign of what his involvement in the club and the city could look like.

Can Snoop Dogg turn Swansea into Vegas?

Snoop told the publication: “I’ve got a 10-year plan to make Swansea the Vegas of Wales.

“I got the connections to get the best chefs, I got connections with businessmen who can finance world-class hotels and clubs.”

Explaining the inspiration behind his idea, the 54-year-old father-of-four said: “Vegas is my town, I love Vegas – I lost count of how many good nights I have had there.

“They have the best chefs, the best clubs, the best hotels, the best casinos, and of course the biggest artists in the world playing there. There is a reason why people come from all over the world to party in Vegas.”

He also outlined his ambitions to transform Swansea’s stadium into a major cultural hub, attracting global music stars who often bypass the city on UK tours.

“I am always thinking with my commercial head on,” he said, explaining how “bigger artists” often skip the city.

“All that is about to change, we’ve got a 20,000-seater stadium and I am going to pull some strings to make sure the best artists in the world start performing there,” Snoop added.

But people in Swansea shared mixed opinions about the star’s ambition for the city.

Baya Richards said: “I think he should leave us alone to be honest”.

Meanwhile, Craig, from Swansea, said he “wouldn’t want to see Swansea become anything like Las Vegas” because “Swansea is perfect the way it is”.

“If you’re going to make Swansea like Vegas, you’re going to have to get rid of all of what makes Wales, Wales and what makes Swansea, Swansea,” he said.

Baya is wearing a purple hoodie and blue headphones around her neck. She has black curly hair which is tied up, with a few loose strands framing her face. She has a nose piercing and a stud below her eye.

Other residents were more open to the idea but admitted they had “mixed” feelings about the proposals.

Oliver said: “I think it’s a good idea because it would bring a lot of money in for us”, but raised concerns that “it might make it unsafe for people to be out at night”.

Some people, however, were more on board, like Cerys who said: “It’s a bit of a crazy idea but good on him if he thinks he can do it.”

Lauren, from Swansea, said: “He definitely brings the attention that we need. I don’t know what his background is in terms of politics, town planning, but he can bring maybe the attention and the funding that we need.”

Oliver is pictured wearing a white graphic t-shirt, silver chain necklace and blue sunglasses. He has short brown hair which is longer on top and covers his forehead.

Jonathan Richards, president of Swansea Bay Business Club, welcomed the “ambition and global attention” of Snoop’s vision and potential investment.

“It’s a strong endorsement of a city we’ve long known to be thriving, with ongoing development and an ever-evolving business landscape,” he said.

Richards added that expanding hospitality, leisure and major events aligned “strongly with the direction we are already heading in”, and said the city had the talent and infrastructure to “support bold visions”.

Andrew Douglas, Swansea Business Improvement district manager said Swansea already “boasts a vibrant and diverse nightlife”, with a fantastic mix of venues, events and experiences that “attract both residents and visitors to the city centre”.

“It’s always interesting to hear ambitious ideas for the city, and we’d certainly be keen to learn more about how Snoop Dogg would build on what Swansea already offers”, he added.

On Thursday, the UK government announced a £20m investment to transform Swansea’s Civic Centre in the heart of the city.

The proposals include an aquarium, 15 commercial units across the ground and lower-ground floors, cafés, bars, shops, workspaces, spaces for leisure and events, and around 140 residential apartments on the upper floors.

A new saltwater lido on the seafront has also been proposed.

Welsh Secretary Jo Stevens said: “This investment will make Swansea even more of a destination for visitors as well as providing better leisure facilities and places to live and work for residents.”

Liverpool ‘disgusted’ by racist abuse towards Konate

Liverpool have said they are “appalled and disgusted” by racist abuse directed towards defender Ibrahima Konate on social media.

The France international was involved in a challenge with Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen during the first half of Liverpool‘s 4-0 Champions League win at Anfield on Wednesday.

Osimhen was subbed off at half-time and it was later revealed by the Turkish side that he had fractured his forearm.

It led to Konate receiving racist abuse online which Liverpool said was “completely unacceptable”.

“It is dehumanising, cowardly and rooted in hate,” the club said on Friday.

“Racism has no place in football, no place in society and no place anywhere – online or offline.

“Our players are not targets. They are human beings. The abuse that continues to be directed at players, often hidden behind anonymous accounts, is a stain on the game and on the platforms that allow it to persist.”

The club said they were offering Konate their “full support” and working with the relevant authorities to identify those responsible.

The Premier League said it joined Liverpool “in strongly condemning the disgusting racist abuse”, warning discrimination “has absolutely no place in football or wider society”.

“Anybody who chooses to abuse others is not welcome in our game and they are not a true fan,” it added.

“It is clear that more needs to be done to address this issue and we will work alongside clubs, football bodies, law enforcement and social media companies to ensure this remains a priority for all.

“Any individuals identified and found guilty of discrimination will face the strongest possible consequences, including club bans and legal prosecution.”

Last month, police confirmed they were investigating after four Premier League players experienced online racial abuse in one weekend.

Osimhen appeared to fall awkwardly following a challenge with Konate in the eighth minute, but he played on until he was replaced by Leroy Sane at the break.

Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk complained about referee Pawel Raczkowski’s decision-making following the Nigeria striker’s injury.

“Looking at Osimhen’s position, we saw that Konate was able to commit these fouls very easily, he could easily apply any kind of foul,” Buruk said.

“While we were expecting the best referee in the world, perhaps one of the worst referees officiated the game.”

Liverpool won the last-16 tie 4-1 on aggregate and will face holders Paris St-Germain in next month’s quarter-finals.

The club called on social media companies to “take responsibility and act now” to prevent racist abuse being directed towards players online.

“These platforms have the power, the technology and the resources to prevent this abuse, yet too often they fail to do so,” Liverpool said.

“Allowing racist hatred to spread unchecked is a choice – and it is one that continues to harm players, families and communities across the game.

“The current situation cannot be allowed to continue. It must be confronted, challenged and eradicated – not tomorrow, but now.”

Fake Fertilizer Syndicate in Kakamega Busted, Eight Suspects Arrested by DCI Officers

Detectives have arrested eight suspects following the dismantling of a suspected fertilizer adulteration and repackaging syndicate in Ejinja Village, Rurambi Sub-County, Kakamega County.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the arrested individuals include the principal suspect, Napoline Murende Wakukha, alongside Isaya Chepkose Marende, Brivin Yeswa, Milkzadek Meja Nandwa, Martin Shilabula, Strola Deptica, Pascal Wathika Omusikoyo, and Jesca Bulimo.

“A joint team of detectives drawn from DCI Headquarters — Operations Support Unit and their Kakamega-based counterparts conducted the raid at a homestead that had been identified as a processing and distribution point for fraudulent fertilizer products targeting unsuspecting farmers,” the DCI said.

The operation followed sustained surveillance and actionable intelligence, which established that the premises was being used for the illegal handling of Government of Kenya (G.O.K) subsidized fertilizer.

“A comprehensive search of the premises yielded significant exhibits, including two motor vehicles — a white Toyota Fielder (registration KDT 604C) and a black Mazda CX-5 (registration KDE 372P) — both loaded with assorted fertilizer bags, both full and empty,” the DCI added.

Detectives also recovered large quantities of fertilizer of various brands and weights, including UREA TOSHA labelled as G.O.K subsidized fertilizer, YARA products, BORA BORA variants, MEA CAN, DAP, and CALCIGROW granules.

Further, investigators recovered fertilizer suspected to have been tampered with, including contents from 39 bags of OCP Africa TSP labelled as G.O.K subsidized fertilizer.

Also seized were assorted empty branded bags, 48 packets of cement colour pigment used to alter the appearance of fertilizer, and three sewing machines used for repackaging.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the syndicate exploited registered farmers by persuading them to redeem government-issued subsidy fertilizer vouchers on their behalf in exchange for small incentives.

The fertilizer would then be diverted, adulterated using chemical pigments to mimic high-value products such as DAP, repackaged, and sold at prevailing market rates.

Further intelligence suggests possible collusion between the syndicate and individuals within select National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) depots, notably in Voi and Webuye, facilitating the irregular acquisition of subsidized fertilizer.

“Findings so far confirm that while the fertilizer is legitimately collected from NCPB depots, its diversion and subsequent adulteration undermine government subsidy programmes, exposing farmers to economic loss and compromising agricultural productivity,” the DCI added.

According to DCI, the scene has since been processed by Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel, while the suspects remain in custody pending arraignment as investigations continue.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reiterated its unwavering commitment to safeguarding critical government programmes from criminal exploitation and ensuring that those involved in economic sabotage are brought to justice.

The agency also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to the illegal handling or sale of subsidized agricultural inputs to the nearest police station or DCI office.

Action Legend Chuck Norris Dies at 86

By Peter John

Hollywood and the martial arts world are mourning the loss of Chuck Norris, the legendary actor and martial artist, who passed away on March 19, 2026, at the age of 86.

His family confirmed the news on social media, stating that he died peacefully in Hawaii, surrounded by loved ones after a sudden medical emergency.

Born Carlos Ray Norris in 1940 in Oklahoma, he rose from humble beginnings to become a global icon.

Before making his mark in Hollywood, Norris was a six-time undefeated World Professional Middleweight Karate Champion, earning respect for his skill, discipline, and dedication to martial arts.

Norris made his acting debut in the 1970s and quickly became a household name with action films such as The Delta Force and Missing in Action.

His fame reached new heights with the television series Walker, Texas Ranger, which ran throughout the 1990s.

His portrayal of the disciplined, no-nonsense hero cemented him as a cultural icon, admired by fans across generations.

Beyond his on-screen achievements, Norris was instrumental in spreading martial arts worldwide.

He founded Chun Kuk Do, a martial arts style combining various disciplines, and trained thousands of students, leaving a lasting legacy in the martial arts community.

In the 2000s, he also became a viral internet sensation through humorous “Chuck Norris facts,” introducing him to a whole new audience.

Even in his final days, Norris remained active and humorous.

Nine days before his passing, he shared a video of himself sparring on social media with the caption, “I don’t age. I level up,” a statement that now feels like a fitting tribute to his lifelong vigor and spirit.

Tributes have poured in from around the world, with fans, fellow actors, and martial artists praising his contributions to film, sports, and popular culture.

His influence touched generations, inspiring countless people to pursue martial arts, discipline, and personal excellence.

The world has lost a legendary figure, his legacy as a martial artist, actor, and cultural icon will endure for decades to come.

Action movie star Chuck Norris has died aged 86, his family says

Chuck Norris, the martial arts grandmaster and action star whose roles in “Walker, Texas Ranger” and other television shows and movies made him an iconic tough guy — sparking internet parodies and adoration from presidents — has died at 86.

Norris died Thursday, in what his family described as a “sudden passing.”

“While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace,” the family said in a statement posted to social media.

Before he would become a star in movies and on TV, Norris was wildly successful in competitive martial arts. He was a six-time undefeated World Professional Middleweight Karate champion. He also founded his own Korean-based American hard style of karate, known sometimes as Chun Kuk Do, and the United Fighting Arts Federation, which has awarded more than 3,300 Chuck Norris System black belts worldwide. Black Belt magazine ultimately credited Norris in its hall of fame with holding a 10th degree black belt, the highest possible honor.

Born Carlos Ray Norris in Ryan, Oklahoma, on March 10, 1940, he grew up poor. At age 12, he moved with his family to Torrance, California, and joined the U.S. Air Force after high school, in 1958. It was during a deployment to Korea that he started training in martial arts, including judo and Tang Soo Do.

“I went out for gymnastics and football at North Torrance high,” he told The Associated Press in 1982. “I played some football, but I also spent a lot of time on the bench. I was never really athletic until I was in the service in Korea.”

After he was honorably discharged in 1962, he worked as a file clerk for Northrop Aircraft and applied to be a police officer, but was put on a waitlist. Meanwhile, he opened a martial arts studio, which expanded to a chain, with students including such stars as Bob Barker, Priscilla Presley, Donny and Marie Osmond, and Steve McQueen, whom he later credited with encouraging him to get into acting.

From one studio to another

Norris made his film debut as an uncredited bodyguard in the 1968 movie “The Wrecking Crew,” which included a fight with Dean Martin. He had also crossed paths with Bruce Lee in martial arts circles. Their friendship — sometimes, as sparring partners — led to an iconic faceoff in the 1972 movie “Return of the Dragon,” in which Lee fights and kills Norris’ character in Rome’s Colosseum.

He went on to act in more than 20 movies, such as “Missing in Action,” “The Delta Force” and “Sidekicks.”

“I wanted to project a certain image on the screen of a hero. I had seen a lot of anti-hero movies in which the lead was neither good nor bad. There was no one to root for,” Norris said in 1982.

In 1993, he took on his most famed role, as a crime-fighting lawman in TV’s “Walker, Texas Ranger.” The show ran for nine seasons, and in 2010, then-Gov. Rick Perry awarded him the title of honorary Texas Ranger. The Texas Senate later named him an honorary Texan.

“It’s not violence for violence’s sake, with no moral structure,” Norris told the AP in 1996, speaking about the show. “You try to portray the proper meaning of what it’s about — fighting injustice with justice, good vs. bad. … It’s entertaining for the whole family.”

Norris also made a surprise comedic appearance as a decisive judge in the final match of the 2004 movie “Dodgeball.” He only on occasion had taken acting roles in recent years, including 2012’s “The Expendables 2” and the 2024 sci-fi action movie “Agent Recon.” He’s due to appear in “Zombie Plane,” an upcoming film starring Vanilla Ice.

Chuck Norris: the man, the meme, the legend

It was around the time of “Dodgeball” that his toughman image became the stuff of legend, literally: “Chuck Norris Facts” went viral online with such wildly hyperbolic statements as, “Chuck Norris had a staring contest with the sun — and won,” and, “They wanted to put Chuck Norris on Mt. Rushmore, but the granite wasn’t tough enough for his beard.”

Norris ultimately embraced the absurdity of the meme craze, putting together “The Official Chuck Norris Fact Book,” which combined his favorites with supposedly true stories and the codes he aimed to live by. He would also write books on martial arts instruction, a memoir, political takes, Civil War-era historical fiction and more.

“To some who know little of my martial arts or film careers but perhaps grew up with ‘Walker, Texas Ranger,’ it seems that I have become a somewhat mythical superhero icon,” Norris wrote in the forward to the “Fact Book.” “I am flattered and humbled.”

That book raised money for a nonprofit he founded with President George H.W. Bush that promoted martial arts instruction for kids.

The intentionally outlandish statements featured in the 2008 Republican presidential primary, when Norris endorsed Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and shot an ad playing on the “Chuck Norris facts.”

“Chuck Norris doesn’t endorse. He tells America how it’s going to be,” Huckabee said in the campaign ad.

President Donald Trump’s supporters later promoted “Trump Facts” in the same vein, and political pundits tried it as well, describing the commander-in-chief’s decision to seize Venezuela’s sitting president, Nicolas Maduro, as a “Chuck Norris Moment,” and its initial effect on oil prices a “Chuck Norris Premium.”

Norris was outspoken about his Christian beliefs and his support for gun rights, and backed political candidates for years — he even went skydiving with Bush for the former president’s 80th birthday. As for Trump, Norris endorsed him in the 2016 general election and wrote guest columns praising him without explicitly endorsing him in the days before the 2020 and 2024 elections.

Norris is survived by five children: stunt performers Mike and Eric with his late ex-wife Dianne Holechek, twins Dakota and Danilee with his wife Gena Norris, and Dina, the result of an early 1960s “one-night stand” revealed in his autobiography.

Norris celebrated his birthday just over a week before his death, posting a sparring video on Instagram.

“I don’t age. I level up,” he wrote.

Details of Jeremiah Kioni’s Meeting With Gachagua

Jubilee Deputy Party Leader (Operations) Jeremiah Kioni on Friday, March 20, held a meeting with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

In a statement, Kioni said the discussions were held in the presence of former Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia, and described the engagement as open and focused on urgent national matters.

“This morning accompanied by former Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia, held a candid engagement with Rigathi Gachagua, where our discussions centered on the pressing national issues facing our country and the urgent need to restore stability, dignity, and economic sanity,” he said.

Kioni further noted that the meeting explored concerns about a widening gap between leaders and citizens, warning that the country is at a moment that demands responsive leadership.

“We exchanged views on the current state of the nation and the growing disconnect between leadership and the people. It is evident that our country stands at a critical crossroads, and decisive, people centered leadership is no longer optional, it is necessary,” he added.

According to Kioni, the leaders also discussed possible pathways toward national unity and reform, calling for a collective effort to address what he termed as systemic failures.

“Our conversation focused on building a united, inclusive, and pragmatic path toward rescuing our country from the failures of the current regime. This moment calls for courage, honesty, and a renewed commitment to the aspirations of our people,” he concluded.

Elsewhere, this comes a day after former Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga joined the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).

Omanga was received by Gachagua, during an event at the party headquarters in Nairobi.

Gachagua stated that Omanga was a leader of high integrity who cared about the livelihood of Nairobi residents.

“Does Millicent Omanga look like somebody who can be bought? No one elected under the DCP ticket will be bought after the election,” he reiterated.

On her part, Omanga asked for an apology from the people of Nairobi for supporting President William Ruto, who broke all the promises he made to them.

“I am asking for your forgiveness for thinking that the UDA wheelbarrow was going somewhere, but I was wrong. He lied to all of us,” she stated.

DCP Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala welcomed Omanga to the political outfit, stating that her enrollment with the party increased its support in Nairobi County.

“Today, Omanga has not joined DCP alone, but alongside her supporters from across the 17 constituencies in Nairobi County,” he stated.

Gachagua revealed plans to ensure that DCP becomes the majority party in the National Assembly and the Senate after the 2027 General Elections.

He disclosed that his party would field candidates in all elective positions in Nairobi County and the entire country.

Kayole Starlets Boost Squad with Chapa Dimba All-Stars Trio

Kayole Starlets have reinforced their squad ahead of the second leg of the Kenya Women Premier League season with the signing of three players from the Safaricom Chapa Dimba All-Stars team.

The trio—goalkeeper Sonia Wambui, striker Calta Nasambu, and midfielder Naomi Nanjala—join the Nairobi-based club after standout performances at the grassroots level. They previously featured for Barcelona Ladies SC of Laikipia, a side competing in the National Super League.

Their development has been closely tied to the Safaricom Chapa Dimba programme, a national youth tournament that continues to nurture emerging football talent.

The three were part of the All-Stars squad that travelled to Huesca, Spain, last September for a training bootcamp, gaining valuable international exposure.

Nanjala described the move as a significant step in her career, noting that playing in the top tier has always been her ambition.

“I am excited to join Kayole Starlets and contribute to the team’s success in the remaining matches. Chapa Dimba has played a big role in my journey,” she said.

Wambui also hailed the tournament for opening doors to young players, expressing her readiness to make an impact at her new club.

The new signings add to a growing number of Chapa Dimba graduates within the squad, including Eunice “Bobi” Nabwoba and Praxedes Shivikhwa, who both featured for Wiyeta Girls.

Nabwoba previously played for Amus College in Uganda before joining Starlets.

Head coach Joshua Sakwa welcomed the additions, emphasizing the importance of grassroots competitions in talent development.

“These tournaments help identify and nurture quality players. We believe the new signings will strengthen our squad as we aim for a strong finish,” he said.

Kayole Starlets are currently seventh in the standings and are targeting a top-three finish as the season progresses.
