Househelp Caught On Camera Kissing, Touching Employer’s Son

A househelp has been charged with sexually assaulting her employer’s two-year-old son in violation of Section 5 (1) of the Sexual Offences Act (SOA) of 2006.

Ms. Joyce Mwangi was charged at Makadara Law Courts for committing the offense inside her employer’s house in Soweto estate, Embakasi East, in an incident captured on CCTV on January 16, 2023.

Ms. Mwangi is also charged with an indecent act with a child in violation of Section 11 (1) of the SOA for indecently touching the child.

The crime was allegedly discovered while the boy’s mother was monitoring her son via a CCTV camera she had installed in her home and connected to her phone.

She immediately notified a family member, who rushed to the house to intervene before she took a taxi home.

She confronted Ms. Mwangi with the video, which allegedly showed her kissing the minor before lying on top of him.

The suspect pleaded for lenient bail and bond terms before Senior Resident Magistrate Mercy Malingu, claiming she is a mother of two children who rely on her.

She was released on a bond of Sh500,000. The case will be mentioned on March 1.

Nottingham Forest Goes After Newcastle’s Wood

Nottingham Forest are attempting to capture Newcastle United striker Chris Wood on a season-long loan.

A deal for the New Zealand international could be completed in time for him to play against Bournemouth on Saturday at the Vitality Stadium.

Wood, who joined Newcastle from Burnley for £25 million a year ago, was instrumental in the club’s relegation struggle last season.

He has appeared in 18 games for the Magpies this season, but only four of those have been starts.

Wood has also appeared in the FA Cup once and the Carabao Cup three times, scoring three goals in 22 games in the 2022-23 season.

Forest boss Steve Cooper has been keen to add reinforcements in the January transfer window, despite their influx of new arrivals last summer when the club set a new British record by making 22 signings following their promotion to the Premier League.

They have signed midfielders Danilo and Gustavo Scarpa during the January transfer window.

Forest, who have reached the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, are 13th in the Premier League and five points above the relegation zone.

However, they have netted just 15 goals in 19 games, with only Wolves having a lower tally in front of goal.

Man City Retains Richest Club Status — Deloitte

According to Deloitte, the Premier League accounts for more than half of the world’s richest clubs in terms of revenue.

In their Money League analysis for the 2021-22 season, eleven Premier League clubs rank among the top 20.

More than half of the clubs are from the same league for the first time in the study’s 26-year history.

Champions Manchester City maintained its lead, earning 731 million euros (£619.1 million), ahead of Real Madrid (713.8m euros).

Liverpool rise to third from seventh, while Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal also make the top 10, with West Ham, Leicester, Leeds, Everton and Newcastle in the top 20.

The top 20 clubs made 9.2bn euros (£7.82bn), a 13% increase from 2020-21.

That increase is largely down to the return of fans to stadia for the first full season after Covid-19 restrictions, with matchday revenue rising from 111m euros to 1.4bn euros.

Five of the Premier League’s ‘big six’ – Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur – reported revenue increases of 15% or more. That saw a total increase of 226m euros.

Commercial revenues rose 8%, from 3.5bn euros to 3.8bn euros (£2.975bn to £3.23bn) but there was an 11% (485m euros/£412.25m) fall in broadcast revenue. Last season’s figures were higher than usual because of postponed matches from the 2019-20 season being played.

Man Pleads Guilty To Killing Karatina University Girlfriend

A security guard accused of murdering a Karatina University student he was dating has pleaded guilty.

Mr. Ezra Kipkemei Kemboi pleaded guilty to murdering Ms. Phyllis Jepleting Jeruto on unknown dates between December 26 and December 31 in Nakuru Town before Justice Theresia Matheka.

Despite being informed by the court of the seriousness of a murder charge, the suspect maintained his plea.

The judge, however, noted that Mr. Kipkemei’s psychiatric report indicated that he had experienced bouts of depression and thus ordered the officer in charge of Nakuru GK prison to ensure he receives counseling while in custody.

The prosecution asked for more time to prepare the facts of the case before the court rendered its sentence.

Ms. Jepleting’s decomposing body was discovered on a mattress in his home a few weeks ago. Her ears were filled with blood.

Neighbors broke into the house after detecting a foul odor. They then reported the incident to the police, who launched an investigation.

According to documents recovered from the suspect’s home, Ms. Kipkemei was a first-year student at Karatina University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Education.

A post-mortem examination revealed that she died as a result of suffocation.

Rapper Flo Rida Wins Ksh.10 Billion in Energy Drink Lawsuit

In a case against Celsius energy drinks, a Florida jury ruled in favor of rapper Flo Rida, awarding him $82.6 million in damages.

Flo Rida, real name Tramar Dillard, claimed the company owed him money and stock options as part of an endorsement agreement.

Flo Rida signed an endorsement deal with Celsius in 2014, which was later extended in 2016.

In 2021, the rapper filed a lawsuit against the company, alleging a breach of their 2014 contract. He claimed he had not received the stock options and other benefits outlined in their contract.

These bonuses were offered if certain sales goals were met, but Flo Rida’s management claimed the contract was unclear and he couldn’t take advantage of them.

Celsius, according to the lawsuit, failed to notify Flo Rida when significant sales targets in his 2014 and 2016 contracts were met. Flo Rida is suing for breach of contract, accounting, and unjust enrichment.

The rapper’s legal team claimed in the lawsuit that the company never informed him as sales skyrocketed and that he did not have access to financial records that would have allowed him to understand their earnings.

Arsenal Turns To Trossard After Mudryk Heartbreak

Arsenal are allegedly in early talks to sign winger Leandro Trossard, who has been linked with a move to Newcastle United.

The Gunners have already signed personal terms with the 28-year-old from Brighton. Mikel Arteta’s team is now in talks with Brighton and is preparing an official bid.

Arsenal’s interest in Trossard comes after they failed to sign Mykhailo Mudryk, who eventually signed for Chelsea for £88.5 million.

As a result, the Premier League leaders have been forced to explore elsewhere for striking reinforcements, and have even been connected with long-term Newcastle target Moussa Diaby.
Newcastle were heavily linked with Trossard heading into the January transfer window.

Two Armed Thugs Killed in a Fierce Shootout With City Police

Written By Vanessa Kariuki ||

Following a bloody confrontation involving officers stationed at Njiru in Nairobi and three armed gangsters on a robbery expedition, two armed miscreants were killed on Tuesday afternoon.

“The hawk-eyed officers who were on routine patrol along Kangudo road in an unmarked vehicle, had noticed a suspicious motorbike at Shujaa area whose pillion passengers were preying on their next victim,” said DCI.

“They immediately intercepted the bike at Kobil gas station and the in-charge asked the miscreants to identify themselves. ‘Nyinyi ni nani?’ he asked. But the defiant trio answered with gunfire, provoking a shootout that sent two of them back to their maker instantly,” DCI added.

As the resolute undercover officers put an end to the armed thugs, sounds of deafening gunshot resounded throughout the plains.

The third suspect quickly changed gears to escape the hail of scary government ammunition as the shootout continued, leaving behind the moaning vroooom sound of a fast motorcycle screaming past the dusty village.

A bird in hand is worth two in the bush, so the officers called off the chase after taking two of the criminals out and recovering a weapon.

“Upon closer examination of the firearm serial number KE-AP G0857 loaded with three rounds of 9mm calibre, it was discovered that the ceska pistol had been snatched from a senior officer within Embakasi police station mid last December. Crime scene detectives later processed the scene and recovered the relevant exhibits, before moving the bodies of the slain duo to City mortuary,” said DCI.

Chicken Shortage Looms Amid South Africa Power Crisis

South Africa may face severe chicken shortages as a result of the power crisis that is affecting the slaughtering of the chickens, a poultry association has warned.

The South African Poultry Association (Sapa) says it has had to reduce the number of chickens slaughtered with abattoirs unable to keep up because of the power cuts.

Local media quote Sapa as saying that it also had to cull 10 million chicks in the past weeks.

Some franchises such as KFC are reportedly already feeling the impact, with the situation likely to get worse.

It comes amid a warning that the issue could become a long-term problem, affecting retail and wholesale markets
