Pakistan Blames Kenyan Job ‘Agents’ For Stranded Workers

The Pakistan government has said the haphazard admission of thousands of Pakistani people into the country should be blamed on employment agents in Nairobi and Islamabad.

After the government declared a crackdown on foreigners, Pakistani High Commissioner to Kenya Saqlain Syedah spoke for the first time, stating that her people are not interested in working in Kenya.

The envoy further stated that the roughly 14,000 Pakistani nationals observed in various city estates are not criminals, but rather laborers looking for jobs overseas.

The Pakistanis, according to Syedah, have legitimate travel passports and will all go to Saudi Arabia.

Kenya terminated a visa-free transit arrangement with Islamabad on Wednesday after images on social media showed hundreds of Pakistani citizens swarming residential areas throughout Nairobi.

The Interior Ministry announced a crackdown on illegal immigrants, citing a surge of Asian foreigners first mistook for Afghan refugees.
