Pastor charged with allegedly stealing Ksh 23.5 million tithe

A ‘man of God’ finds himself on the wrong side of the Law for allegedly stealing tithe and offering collected from the Faithfuls and made to facilitate preaching of the ‘Lord’s’ word.

Pastor Daniel Bushebi Munalo from the Word of Life Centre today woke up in a completely new environment after his church accused him of stealing Ksh 23.5 million he had been entrusted with by the congregant to finance smooth operations of the ‘Lord’s Sanctuary’.

According to the prosecution, Daniel on diverse dates between November 2019 and August 2021, stole Ksh 23,558,625 from the Church.

It is alleged that Word of Life Centre Church and Ministries entrusted Pastor Daniel Munalo with the said funds to run operations and purchase of land only for the ‘Lord’s’ servant to convert the funds to private use.

His advocate while pleading with the court to release him on lenient bond terms, told Magistrate Dolphina Alego that the accused is a very senior pastor of the church who has never stepped in a court before.

The Court released him on Ksh 10m bond with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 2 million.

The case will proceed on March 27, 2025.
