Paula Kahumbu, a renown conservationist, has been named to the National Geographic Society’s board of trustees.
The society is described as “a global non-profit organization committed to investigating, illuminating, and safeguarding the wonders of our world” by one online page.
NatGeo, the television documentary channel, and its similarly called, richly illustrated magazine are the most well-known products of National Geographic.
Along with Ash Carter, Claudia Madrazo, Deborah Lehr, and Dina Powell McCormick, Kahumbu has been named to the board of directors.
Kahumbu, the Chief Executive Officer of WildlifeDirect and a National Geographic Explorer, is now the board’s first Kenyan member.
