Two Kenyans who had petitioned the Judicial Service Commission to have Justice Said Chitembwe removed from his position have withdrawn their complaint.
On Friday morning, John Wangai and Stephen Ooko, who filed the case on November 17, withdrew it from the JSC.
They stated they withdrew the lawsuit because it had not been handled according to natural justice norms.
They claimed that this was in violation of the fair administrative action statute and the law on fair administration action.
However, two additional petitions are still pending with the commission, and hearings will begin on December 14 before a panel at JSC.
Chief Justice Martha Karambu Koome had already issued a statement assuring Kenyans that she will act in response to Sonko’s video recordings incriminating the High Court Judge.
Sonko taped a meeting with the Judge’s brother in which he solicited and received a bribe on the Judge’s behalf.
The video would become a topic of conversation on social media and in the mainstream media.
