IG Koome Warns Politicians Over Police Dismissal Statement

Japhet Koome, the Inspector General of Police, has warned political figures who say they can influence the dismissal of his police officers.

He stated that politicians are addressing the people while claiming that they will transfer or terminate some police officers.

He stated that nothing of the sort will occur. He warned leaders, particularly politicians, not to make public statements that could stoke discontent inside the National Police Service.

He directed all Police Commanders to continue carrying out their official duties properly and without fear of reprisal.

For unclear reasons, several political figures, particularly in the Rift Valley, have threatened police officers with transfers and dismissal.
