Police injured by Alshabab militia

Two police reservists are in hospital after they were ambushed and shot by al-Shabaab militants in the Ola area, Mandera County in the latest such incident in the area.

The two were part of a team patrolling the Lanqura area when they were ambushed by a gang of about 30 militants who later escaped towards the Kenya-Somalia border as a reinforcement arrived.

The area has been under attack by the militants and there are fears of more of such in the coming days.

Last Saturday, two militants were killed in the area after a bomb they were setting up went off and killed them.

More police have since been sent to the region to intensify patrols.
