Ruto Courts Mudavadi To Ditch OKA

The newly created Democratic Action Party Kenya (DAP-K), according to Deputy President William Ruto, is part of a strategy by ODM Leader Raila Odinga to destabilize the Amani National Congress (ANC) and FORD-Kenya.

He informed a group of citizens from western Kenya that the newly created party was formed to counter ANC Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi and FORD-Moses Kenya’s Wetangula’s political supremacy in the Western area.

The DP said Odinga, who is one of the front-runners in the 2022 Presidential race, had resorted to supporting the formation of regional parties during a roadshow at Lwandeti Market in Lugari Constituency.

On Tuesday, the party led by Kanduyi legislator Wafula Wamunyinyi and his Tongaren counterpart Eseli Simiyu pledged to support Odinga’s presidency under the Azimio la Umoja Movement, which was launched on December 10.

Calls for the western bloc to unite behind a single presidential candidate appeared to be thrown into disarray by the resolution.

A breakaway element from Bungoma Senator Wetangula’s FORD- Kenya Party makes up the majority of DAP-K members.

Odinga is alleged to be using the DAP-decision K’s to join the Azimio la Umoja Movement as one of his political weapons to win votes in the western area.

Simiyu promised that in the 2022 elections, his party will ring-fence support for Odinga in the western region and publicize the newly founded party.

He believes tribal groups should not be allowed to participate in Kenya’s democratic process.
