Just after reports surfaced of a frosty reception from King Charles, their California-based charity, Archewell, has been hit with a fundraising freeze.
Apparently, Archewell missed some paperwork deadlines and fees, leading California’s top lawyer to brand them “delinquent.” This means they can’t solicit or distribute funds until things are sorted.
“An organisation that is listed as delinquent is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in conduct for which registration is required, including soliciting or disbursing charitable funds,” the note adds.
It further says, “The organisation may also be subject to penalties, and its registration may be suspended or revoked by the Registry.”
Is this connected to the King’s snub?
While the timing is interesting, reports suggest these issues are separate. Still, it can’t be easy for Harry and Meghan to navigate these challenges.
