Police officer and two others charged with suspected Human Trafficking

BY PRUDENCE WANZA – Administration police officer together with two men have been charged with suspected smuggling of human beings.
The Police Officer, Edwin Sawe Kipchirchir, faces a charge of facilitating irregular entry of an alien into the country. 


He is accused that being an administration police constable while driving a motor vehicle Registration No. GKB 422J Subaru outback, black in color fitted with civilian registration No. KCJ 710M attached to North Eastern Regional Commissioner knowingly facilitated the irregular entry of five people in to Kenya.


He is alleged to have committed the offence on 19th July,2019 along Juja road in Nairobi.
Kipchirchir faces a second count of unlawful use of vehicle. It alleged that being a driver attached to Administration Police Service Garissa sub-county unlawfully took and used motor vehicle Registration No. GKB 422J Subaru outback the property of ministry of Interior and Co- ordination of National Government  being an official vehicle attached to North Eastern Regional Commissioner.


He is alleged to have committed the offence on 19th July, 2019 at Garissa township in Garissa County.
Kipchirchir, Omar Noor Abdi and Minhad Mohamed Abdi are accused of being suspected with human smuggling.


They are alleged to have been involved in smuggling of five people in Kenya on 19th July,2019 along Juja road in Nairobi county.
They denied the charges before senior Principal Magistrate Kenneth Cheruiyot .


They  were released on a bond of Sh.1M or an alternative cash bail of Sh.500,000. The Magistrate also ordered that the vehicle involved be released to the regional Commissioner Garissa sub county.
The case has been set for a mention on 15th August,2019 and the hearing on 18th September, 2019.
