Police Officer Arrested After Abandoning KCPE Exam Centre, Going On A Drinking Spree

A police officer manning the ongoing national examinations was arrested on Monday by his colleagues after leaving his post in Nakuru County to go on a drinking spree.

According to a police report filed under OB 11/30/10/2023, Kimonia Primary School centre manager Elijah Biwott reported the officer’s absence to authorities before the KCPE examination.

According to the report, the officer was found sleeping in the teachers’ quarters while under the influence of alcohol.

“Molo security team in the company of Mariashoni Officer Commanding Station (OCS) rushed to the school and found the said police constable sleeping in one of the rooms at the teacher’s quarters appearing drunk. The officer was disarmed and another officer instructed to take charge during the English Composition paper,” reads part of the report.

According to preliminary investigations, the officer left his post and went to a nearby trading centre, where he is said to have consumed the alcohol.

When one of the teachers on the school grounds noticed the officer was inebriated, he approached him and persuaded him to take a nap in his house before the police arrived and arrested him.

The officer was detained at the Elburgon police station pending further investigation.
