Police recover firearm stolen from female officer in February

    Police in Nairobi on May 26, 2024 morning recovered a firearm loaded with 23 rounds, within Githurai, Kasarani Sub-County.

    The National Police Service (NPS) in a statement on Monday, May 27, said that the gun had been reported missing after a female police officer was attacked by 3 men and robbed.

    “Preliminary investigations suggest that the same had been reported missing after a female police officer was attacked by 3 men and robbed of the said firearm on February 16, 2024, while on night duty at Kiwanjani Area in Nairobi.

    “Police found the firearm abandoned near the gate of Githurai Police Post. DCI Kasarani is investigating the case,” the statement read in part.

    Police have since launched a manhunt for the thugs.

    The incident comes a month after police officers gunned down a thug in Mwiki, Kasarani area and recovered a gun that had been robbed from the Officer Commanding Station Vihiga Sub-County.
