Police To Deploy More Security In Courts After Makadara Shooting

The National Police Service (NPS) has reassured the Chief Justice Hon. Martha Koome of their commitment to the safety and security of judicial staff following the tragic passing of Magistrate Monica Kivuti.

Hon. Kivuti succumbed to gunshot wounds after a deadly incident where a senior police officer shot her while delivering a ruling at Makadara Law Courts.

NPS has assured heightened security at Judicial courts to protect Judiciary officers.

  • Currently, security at Court premises is provided by police stations and the Court Orderlies unit
  • The Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit (CIPU) and Security of Government Buildings (SGB) Unit

  • This comes after Judges and Magistrates Association has called for a week-long boycott of all court staff until their safety is guaranteed.
