In politics, every political move has consequences. Politicians sometimes fail to look at the broader pictures of their political moves and instead concentrate on a short term benefit. Political parties have ended up disputing their memoranda of understanding thus leading to a sharp fallout out later when need arises again.
The two major coalitions in 2012 and 2017 general elections have oblique future after the fall outs. Jubilee party is currently facing a serious rebellion with Deputy President pulling on his side while the President also opting to stay in the party. Calls are underway for President Kenyatta to restructure the party ahead of next year’s general election.
The NASA coalition chiefs are not left behind in the coalition squabbles. There are also two factions. Kalonzo, Mudavadi and Wetangula have opted for the OKA alliance while Raila Odinga is also on his own.
In NASA, Kalonzo and Mudavadi have been disgruntled by the fact that Raila’s Party has betrayed the agreement on how to share coalition revenues. Yesterday, ODM party had made a good gesture to seek guidance from the registrar of political parties in dispute resolution regarding sharing of the money.
Even before the Principals could move to the solution table, there is a new twist by ODM in sharing of the revenues. The party’s boss has said that the only way they can share the funds is if what they receive is based on August 8,2017 General election presidential votes. This new twist is seemingly another longer journey for the other NASA affiliate parties to get their revenues.
