Pope Francis Appoints New Bishop

Rev. Monsignor Mark Kadima has been named Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Bungoma by Pope Francis.

Monsignor Kadima’s appointment was officially announced Tuesday in Rome’s L’Osservatore Romano.

His Excellency Archbishop Bert Van Megen, Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan, has sent an official statement to the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) expressing the same.

“I have the honour and pleasure to notify you that Pope Francis has nominated the Reverend Monsignor Mark Kadima as Bishop of Bungoma,” the Nuncio writes.

Rt. Rev. Norman King’oo, who was transferred to the Catholic Diocese of Machakos on June 23, 2018, will be succeeded by Bishop-Elect Kadima.

Since then, the Apostolic Administrator of Bungoma has been Bishop Joseph Obanyi of the Catholic Diocese of Kakamega.
