President Ruto Criticises Raila’s Persistent Call For IEBC Server Opening

President William Ruto has responded to the opposition’s continued demand that the servers of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) be opened for scrutiny, claiming that the servers have always been open.

Speaking during the opening of the Border Police Hospital in Kanyonyoo, Kitui County, Ruto said that the call to open the servers six months after the election is an insult to the country’s collective intelligence.

Ruto chastised the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition, saying that the servers were opened during voting, tallying, announcing, and even the court process.

“For anyone to tell us that they need IEBC servers to be opened at this point in time is to take us for granted. Is to believe that they are fools in Kenya. I want to tell our friends that the servers have always been open,” he said.

The head of state said that the opposition’s call for server scrutiny is an insult to Kenyans’ collective intelligence and democracy.

“The servers were open during the identification. They were open during the voting. They were open during the posting of the results. They were open during the tallying in BOMAS. They were open when the results were announced. They were open when the matters went to court. The servers were open when the court determined the election. To now pretend and tell us about servers is an insult to our collective intelligence is an insult to our democracy,” he said.

Ruto’s comments come after Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition, challenged the IEBC to open the servers following claims by a whistleblower that he won the election.
