President Ruto Makes More Changes In Key State Corporations

President William Ruto has announced new changes to key government parastatals.

In a gazette notice dated February 17, the president named Dr. Abdillahi Ibrahim as the new chairman of the Kenya Medical Research Institute’s Board of Directors (KEMRI).

Abdillahi takes over for Dr Daniel Musyoka, who was appointed by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“I, William Samoei Ruto, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Abdillahi Ibrahim to be the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Medical Research Institute, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from February 17, 2023,” the notice reads.

He also appointed former Kanduyi MP Alfred Khangati to chair the Board of Directors of Nzoia Sugar Company Limited for a three-year term.

In addition, the president revoked Alphonse Kioko’s appointment as chairperson of the Tourism Fund’s Board of Directors.

Following his dismissal, President Ruto chose Samson Kipkoech Some as his replacement.

The changes are part of Ruto’s reorganisation of government in order to fulfil Kenyans’ campaign promises.
