President Ruto Off To India On A Two-Day State Visit

President William Ruto is set to embark on a significant two-day State visit to India, commencing on Monday, in response to an invitation extended by India’s President Murmu.

Ruto embarked on the two-day State visit following successful advocacy for Kenya and Africa’s climate agenda at the UN Climate Conference (COP 28) in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

According to a statement issued by State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed on Monday, the talks will focus on strengthening ties in critical sectors and will conclude with the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs).

The areas include agriculture, trade, investment promotion, healthcare, particularly in pharmaceutical production and capacity building, education, ICT, maritime affairs, and renewable energy.

Ruto is also expected to meet India’s President Droupadi Murmu and speak at a trade and investment forum, highlighting the potential for economic cooperation between India and Kenya, according to Spokesperson Mohamed.

“The State Visit marks a significant milestone in the relationship between Kenya and India, providing a platform for collaborative initiatives and contributing to mutual benefits for the two nations and peoples,” said Mohamed.
