President Ruto Officially Opens Connected Africa Summit 2024

The digital revolution of Africa kicks off in Nairobi, Kenya!

President William Ruto launched the Connected Africa Summit 2024 at Uhuru Gardens, igniting a four-day conversation about harnessing technology for the continent’s future.

Eliud Owalo, the CS of Information Communication and Digital Economy, welcomed him and showed him around exhibit booths showcasing diverse technical advances from businesses and students.

The summit provides a strategic platform for directing Africa towards a future of digital empowerment and connectivity, paving the way for previously unheard-of levels of development and wealth.

Ruto contends that to achieve a strong digital economy, young people who are at the centre of the digital revolution should receive the help required.

“At the heart of digital transformation are our young talents whom we must support if we are to realize a robust digital economy,” said President Ruto.

“Our vision for the future is bold, clearly urgent, and visible. Under the African Continental Free Trade Area framework, we aim to harness pan-African integration to expand our collective GDP from $ 1.7T to $ 2.5T by 2030.”

President Ruto also ignited the spirit of creativity and solidarity among those in attendance.

He called on them all to undertake a journey where common goals become avenues for converting potential into real progress and promoting a digital economy that benefits everyone.

CS Owalo, for his part, expressed the prospect that ideas for positioning Africa as a leader in the digital economy will be highlighted at the summit’s conclusion.

From April 22nd to 25th, attendees will delve into the exciting possibilities of the digital economy.

Among those participating at the summit are Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, PS ICT John Tanui, MPs, business executives and delegates from various African and European countries.
