President Ruto Says Yes To National Dialogue Report

President William Ruto stated that he has accepted the recommendations of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO).

The committee was formed by the coalitions of the ruling Kenya Kwanza and the opposition Azimio la Umoja, and approved by Parliament.

Presdident Ruto said he will make sure the report is implemented to move Kenya forward.

“You’ve heard that those in charge of the Dialogue are done with that work, and we applaud them of finishing that task, now let us join hands and take Kenya forward,” he said.

President Ruto addressed congregants at the Priesthood Fellowship in Kahawa West, Roysambu Constituency on Sunday, advocating for a 50% reduction in government spending, urging leaders to live within their means for Kenya’s progress.

“They have given recommendations all those recommendations are okay. Where they said we lessen Government spending by 50%, I have done that already. Those calling for lessening to be done by 30%, I suggest that they increase it to 50% for Kenya to move forward. We must learn to live within our means,” he added.

The Head of State also urged Members of Parliament to consider the committee’s recommendations as soon as possible, emphasising the importance of working together to move Kenya forward.

“All the other things that they have suggested, it is now up to you MPs to debate on the issue and get done with it so as to continue working together without hate and division,” he added.

President Ruto praised the committee’s four-month effort and emphasised the practicality of their recommendations.

In a joint statement issued on Saturday, November 25, the committee emphasised the need to cut travel budgets across government arms by 50% and recommended a 30% reduction in Daily Subsistence Allowances for State and Public Officers.

According to the committee, the move is intended to address the pressing issue of the cost of living.

The committee’s deliberations were also notable for the proposal to establish offices for the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Official Opposition.

These proposed positions, which are awaiting National Assembly approval, could see Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and opposition leader Raila Odinga appointed to them.
