Kisii County’s Kiamokama ward has been thrown into mourning after the passing of their MCA Kennedy Mainya.- By Gerald Gekara
According to County Assembly Majority leader Timothy Ogugu, Mainya is said to have died in Narok as they were en route to a city hospital for specialized treatment.
“Hon Mainya has been well but was taken ill on Thursday and was rushed to Oasis Hospital in Kisii. He was put on oxygen support and his situation deteriorated on Sunday when the family requested that he be taken to another health facility for advanced treatment. We are sad to learn that he died on the way there, ” Ogugu said.
Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, described the deceased as a formidable politician who stopped at nothing to ensure good politics was peddled in his ward.
Kisii county Senator Janet Ong’era mourned the late Mainya as a veteran politician who empowered his people.
“I have learnt with profound shock of the untimely death Hon Kennedy Mainya, MCA Kiamokama ward. The late Kennedy was a veteran politician who was committed to empowering his people. He will be dearly remembered for his humility and service to his people.”
