PS Kimtai Officially Launches National Health Accounts Estimates Report 2019/20 to 2021/22

The National Health Accounts Estimates Report for 2019/20 to 2021/22 was officially launched by Mr. Harry K. Kimtai, Principal Secretary for Medical Services.

The report reaffirms the government’s commitment to providing equal access to healthcare and outlines important advancements made possible by the Vision 2030 effort, such as the provision of free treatment for tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and malaria, which has decreased the rates of both child and maternal mortality.

Kimtai noted that persistent issues such as unequal access, insufficient funding, and a lack of qualified healthcare professionals existed.

In addressing both communicable and non-communicable diseases, he underlined the significance of ongoing efforts.

By reforming information systems, human resources, health goods and technologies, financing, and information systems, the government hopes to accomplish its Bottom-Up Transformation Agenda (BETA), which aspires to attain universal health coverage.

Acknowledging WHO, USAID, and JICA as well as other development partners for their assistance, Kimtai advised teams to make sure that proper data collection is done in order to facilitate efficient health planning.
