PSC Extends Application Deadline For Principal Secretary Positions

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has extended the deadline for applications for Principal Secretary positions from Tuesday, September 20 to Tuesday, September 27.

PSC is seeking Kenyans for Principal Secretary positions that will be recommended for appointment and nomination by President William Ruto.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the commission’s Chief Executive Officer Simon Rotich urged interested candidates to take advantage of the additional time to submit their applications.

“The Public Service Commission has extended the deadline for submission of applications for the advertised positions of Principal Secretaries in the public service from today 20th September 2022 to Tuesday 27th September 2022,” a notice from the commission read in part.

“Interested applicants now have seven more days to apply for the positions that are expected to fall vacant following the General Elections held on 9th August 2022.”

On September 6, the PSC invited those interested in the position of principal secretary to apply by September 20.

The PSC is required by Article 155(3) (a) of the Constitution to recommend to the President candidates for nomination and appointment as Principal Secretaries.

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) are expected to approve the applicants.

They should also be cleared by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) (Certificate of Good Conduct) and have Credit Reference Bureau clearance.

Interested candidates must have a degree from a Kenyan university and at least ten years of relevant professional experience, five of which must have been in a leadership or top management position in the public or private sector.

They must also fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution regarding leadership and integrity.

According to the PSC, they should also have a general understanding of government organization and functions.
