Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a letter to President William Ruto ahead of Monday’s Jamhuri Day celebrations.

In a statement sent by the Russian Embassy in Kenya, Putin congratulated President Ruto on another successful Jamhuri Day, describing it as an important national holiday.

He emphasized Kenya’s ties with Russia, calling it “traditionally favorable.”

“I am certain that their continued growth in numerous fields serves the basic interests of the Russian and Kenyan peoples,” the embassy said in part.

The Russian president’s message emphasized Russia’s role in the African continent, particularly in supporting peace.

He anticipated that developments in all sectors of Kenya-Russia ties would progress “in accordance with improving peace and security on the African continent.”

“I wish you good health and success, as well as pleasure and prosperity for all Kenyans,” Putin said.

Kenya celebrated Jamhuri Day in Nyayo Stadium, where President Ruto led the people in a new arrangement for the National Day.

Since his election as President, President William Ruto has formed alliances with both Russia and the United States.
