A lady was charged with theft after reportedly stealing a mobile phone and cash from a man she met at a prominent nightclub in Nairobi’s city centre after spiking his drink.

Ms Rahab Wanjiru is accused of stealing a cell phone worth Sh29,500 and cash Sh1,500 from Simon Mwai Kimiri on Tom Mboya Street on November 18, 2022.

Mr Kimiri had met Ms Wanjiru at the Eureka Lounge on Tom Mboya Street at 3 a.m., where he had gone for a dinner and a few drinks.

The complainant had noticed Ms Wanjiru sitting alone at an adjacent table and requested her to join him at his table. He ordered food and beverages for her.

After they had completed their dinner and beverages, they headed outside to hunt for housing and found up at a hotel on River Road.

They rented a room and went in, but Ms Wanjiru allegedly told Mr Kimiri she needed more drink.

Mr Kimiri purchased one more drink before returning to their room.

Mr Kimiri went to the restroom, and when he returned, Ms Wanjiru had poured the beer in two plastic tumblers. They took the drink after which he became unconscious.

He was woken up the next day by the room attendant at around 3pm. Only to find himself alone in the room and his mobile phone and the cash missing.
