Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga’s long-serving personal aide Silas Jakakimba has withdrawn from Lang’ata parliamentary seat.

In a statement on Friday, February 11, Jakakimba attributed his decision to emerging and critical issues and assignments in the past several months.

“Due to emerging and critical issues, assignment in the past several months, I’ve had to skip on my earlier intention to stand for elective public office,” he said.

The politician said he will offer support to whoever wins the ODM ticket in the Lang’ata constituency.

“I will offer all the support to whoever emerges as the Change Movement’s candidate,” he added.

However, he noted that he will continue playing his role at the Raila Odinga Secretariat.

“In that respect, I’ll continue playing my role at the Raila Odinga Secretariat to ensure he clinches the much-awaited decisive and resounding win on RAOND1 by CoB on August 9, 2022,” he stated.

In 2015, Jakakimba entered the political race when he first vied for Homa Bay senatorial by-election after the death of Otieno K’Ajwang’.

The Lang’ata constituency seat has attracted many aspirants including Felix Oduor alias Jalang’o, former aspirant Oscar Omoke, businesswoman Vivienne Taa, Lilian Opiyo among others.
