Imran Okoth, an independent candidate for the Kibra MP seat, has been ordered to withdraw by ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking at a rally in the district on Sunday, Raila urged Imran, who came in second in the ODM primary conducted in April, to abandon his campaign and back Peter Ochieng Orero, the party’s nominee.
“Tell my son Imran that I’ll hold his hand, please. Let him go so Peter Ochieng (Mwalimu) can enter, Raila said.
Additionally, he assured the first-term MP that if the coalition wins the August 2022 elections, he will be included in the Azimio cabinet.
“I will be with Imran in the government.”
In a by-election in 2019, the Kibra MP won on an ODM ticket and took office. After his brother, Ken Okoth, the local representative to parliament, passed away from cancer, this occurred.
Raila was putting the Azimio house in order by designating a flagbearer in hotly disputed areas.
In Mathare constituency, Raila asked Jubilee’s Kevin Bahati Kioko to drop his bid in favour of ODM’s Anthony Oluoch.
