Raphael Tuju, a former Jubilee Party Secretary-General, has been appointed Executive Director of Raila Odinga’s Azimio La Umoja campaign secretariat.
Tuju takes over with immediate effect, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by Dennis Onyango, the secretariat’s Communications Director.
“As Executive Director, Hon. Tuju will coordinate all member parties of Azimio and will lead the strategic and program teams that will work to ensure Azimio’s victory in the August elections,” said Onyango.
Tuju resigned from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Cabinet as well as the ruling Jubilee Party, where he was Secretary-General, on February 26.
He stated that he was leaving to pursue “other political engagements.”
Jeremiah Kioni was appointed secretary-general of the Jubilee Party.
Tuju is a communications professional who has worked in politics and government as a Member of Parliament, Cabinet Minister, and Jubilee Party Secretary-General.
