Otiende Amollo, the Rarienda Member of Parliament, has stated that no one, including President William Ruto, can stop the current Azimio La Umoja Coalition demonstrations.
According to Amollo, protests under Article 37 of Kenya’s constitution do not give anyone the authority to terminate demonstrations.
“For the avoidance of doubt, no President or Deputy, Cabinet Secretary, Governor, or Member of Parliament has the authority to ban or unban properly notified protests under Article 37.” “Just So You Know,” he said.
This follows a proclamation made by Kisumu governor Anyang Nyong’o on Wednesday banning protests in the lakeside city and ordering Azimio followers to assemble in Nairobi.
