About 3 years ago, a drive-through Kangundo Road from Njiru area to Umoja’s Outering roundabout was a painful 1-hour experience.
Residents had to wake up at ungodly hours in order to beat the notorious snarl-up, that could in turn deal a great blow to their wellbeing, and financial budgets.
The expanded Kangundo road project has been welcomed by motorists and traders alike, who said that the road works were long overdue.
“The newly tarmacked service lane will go a long way in easing the traffic, by providing a space for minibuses to drop their passengers, and enough room for others to divert to other estates”, said one Ng’ang’a, a motorist.
The service lane adds another feather to the cap of Saxon Investments Limited, the firm awarded the PBC contract to facilitate construction and maintenance of Kangundo Road.
In the Performance-Based Contract, the contractor is paid for actual works done on the road, and maintaining the highest standards as provided in the contract.
Other notable works on the road include pothole filling, erection of street lighting, bush clearing and cleaning, and provision of Bus stop bays along the Kangundo Road route.
