The Kenya Urban Roads Authority has announced its intention to close down a section of the busy Outering road inorder to pave way for the installation of a pedestrian footbridge – By Gerald Gekara.
According to the communique to the public, KURA says the works will include installation of a footbridge truss.
“We wish to notify the general public that Outer Ring Road will be closed at Nairobi TRiver on Sunday 23rd August 2020 as from 8am to 2pm” The statement read in part.
Motorists have been urged to seek alternative routes including the Mutarakwa Road – Komarock Road links inorder to join Outering road at the Kariobangi Roundabout.
The footbridge works is among efforts to provide efficient pedestrian crossing means for other road users, and minimise accidents along the 6 lane road.
So far, works on the beams and steel supports have been erected across the highway.
