Russia has carried out its heaviest drone and missile attack since the start of the war, striking Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, and leaving at least four people dead, including an infant, according to local officials.
The assault, which occurred late Sunday night, targeted several sites across the city, including for the first time the Cabinet of Ministers building. Dozens of drones and missiles were intercepted by Ukrainian air defenses, but falling debris caused extensive damage to residential areas and government offices.
Emergency crews worked through the night to rescue survivors and extinguish fires sparked by the strikes. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the barrage, calling it another act of terror aimed at breaking civilian morale.
The attack underscores escalating hostilities as Russia intensifies its campaign against Ukraine’s urban centers, despite international appeals for de-escalation.
