MPs supporting Deputy President William Ruto have accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of squandering public money in the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
On August 22, MPs including Aldai MP Cornelly Serem and his Tinderet counterpart Julius Melly promised to sue President Uhuru over the reported Ksh13.5 billion spent on the BBI.
Serem asked the President to personally reimburse the money used to sponsor BBI activities and popularization during a fundraiser at St.Pauls Theological College in Kapsabet.
“This country can be transformed with Ksh13.5 billion. We’re actually planning to file a lawsuit against the president to ensure that the money is repaid “According to the Aldai legislator.
The legislator pointed out that the government spent a lot of money to fund an illegal document.
He said that the President never asked the National Assembly for permission to spend the Ksh. 13.5 billion on the BBI.

“Our President never had authorization from the parliament to spend the money, and as a result, he should reimburse us for the Ksh13.5 billion he spent,” the member remarked.
The MPs believe that the monies would have been better spent on a variety of projects that would benefit Kenyans.
The Deputy President said the Judiciary’s ruling halting Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) had given the country a golden chance to re-evaluate Kenya’s development priorities.
“Now, let us agree to embark on the plans that we had like the Big Four that had been stalled by BBI,” said Dr. Ruto.
