Deputy President William Ruto now claims that charges that he plotted to impeach President Uhuru Kenyatta during the 2017 general election are nothing more than gossip and misinformation.
The deputy president declared during a rally in Malindi on Sunday that he has always performed his job diligently and that thoughts of impeachment have never crossed his mind.
He noted that he assisted President Kenyatta in gaining office in both 2013 and 2017.
President Kenyatta’s second-in-command highlighted that he was well aware of his position under his leadership, branding his accusations liars.
Ruto was reacting to claims made during a State House conference attended by 3000 elders from the Mount Kenya region.
According to sources, President Kenyatta told the group that Ruto talked to Odinga behind his back about plotting to impeach him as the head of state.
The Deputy President informed Malindi villagers during his tour that he couldn’t possibly build a government that he planned to destabilize at the same time.
Odinga, according to Ruto, is the only person who could have been the architect behind President Kenyatta’s impeachment in the 2017 elections, having sworn himself in as the people’s president.
