Ruto: Gas Prices To Go Down To Ksh300 Starting May 2023

President William Ruto has announced a bold plan to cut cooking gas costs by more than half by June of this year.

A six-kilogram gas cylinder will cost between Ksh 300 and Ksh 500, down from the current average of KES 1,200, according to the President.

“From June 2023, a 6 kg cylinder of cooking gas will cost Ksh 500 or Ksh 300,” Ruto said as the crowd cheered.

The Head of state spoke on Thursday during the launch of the Women Enterprise Fund and second product of the Hustler Fund at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

Ruto also warned that his government would crack down on cartels in the gas industry that have been exploiting Kenyans with high prices.

“We want to begin to register every person who is filling gas, you must be licensed by the government of Kenya,” he added.

He assured the public that he would deal with the issue by increasing supply and competition in the market.
