Deputy President William Ruto has announced he would not mind working with Raila so long as their goals are aligned.
In an interview with Radio Citizen, DP Ruto articulated matters to do with his 2022 presidential ambitions and said his ideologies and that of the ODM leader are aligned.
“The former Prime Minister and I read from the same script on the need to have political parties that have a national outlook,” he said.
Speculation was rife over an impending coalition of the two politicians who were once allies in the from KANU up to 2007.
However, bad blood between the two in recent days has led to fierce exchanges as well as cordinated heckling between the two camps.
In his interview, Ruto stated he would leave the Jubilee camp if he continued feeling left out of the government.
He also revealed that the United Democratic Alliance(UDA) is his backup plan as his fate in jubilee remains unknown. Ruto claimed that Jubilee has been turned into a tribal grouping.
The deputy president also claimed the same tribal chiefs were behind the removal of Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen as Senate Majority Leader and his Nakuru counterpart Susan Kihika as Senate Majority Whip.
He said the same efforts should be used in implementing the Jubilee agenda, including Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big 4 Agenda.
“Nguvu hizi zote za kufukuza viongozi kama tungekuwa tunazitumia kuendesha Big 4, tungekuwa saa hizi na nafasi ya kazi kwa vijana, tungekuwa tumetatua tatizo ya chakula, tungekuwa tumetimiza wajibu wetu kwa mambo ya Universal Health Coverage” Ruto said.
Speaking on the call to impeach and remove him as Jubilee Party Deputy Party Leader, the DP said the ‘sideshow-spreaders’ were only working to derailing the country.
“Mimi nimechaguliwa kama naibu wa rais wa Jamhuri ya Kenya, na katiba inanipatia nafasi ya kufanya kazi fulani, na hizo kazi mimi naendelea kuzifanya. Nani anahudhuria mkutano ni uamuzi wa rais, akiona pengine pale naibu wa rais hatakuwa na ya kuongezea, basi anaendesha vile yeye anavyopenda. Kazi ya ziada ambayo pengine ningeongezewa na rais kusema ‘Bwana DP fanya pale’, kama amesema ya kwamba ifanywe na watu wengine, hiyo ni uamuzi wake, na sina kabisa matatizo na vile mambo hayo yanavyoendeshwa,” he said.
