Ruto Meets Nigerian Fiancé Marrying Her Daughter

On Saturday, Deputy President William Ruto hosted a dowry negotiation ceremony for his eldest daughter, June Ruto, who is marrying her Nigerian fiancé.

June’s future partner, Alexander Ezenagu, and his delegation were received by Ruto at his Karen home.

Caleb Kositany, a Soy MP, is said to have headed the team negotiating on Ruto’s behalf, while Osita Chidoka, a politician and former Minister of Aviation in Nigeria, was in charge of Ezenagu’s side.

“The Kalenjin people of Kenya are pastoral people and have very much in common with the Igbos of Nigeria,” Chidoka wrote on his Facebook page.

“I was the negotiator at the bride price settlement ceremony. We haggled, we negotiated and at the end, we agreed on how many cows would be a fair price for the hands of June. June’s father kept the event small and simple and family-focused. His position as Deputy President was relegated as he played the role of a father. Hon. Ruto and wife were great hosts.”

“I regaled them with Igbo rituals, proverbs, and more,” he said. They’re excited to go to Ani Igbo and eat roasted yam and red oil.”

June is Kenya’s Charge d’Affaires in Poland, having studied foreign affairs at the University of Queensland in Australia.

Professor at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) in Qatar, Ezenagu describes himself as a specialist in investment, tax law, and development governance.

He graduated from McGill University in Canada with a Ph.D. and the University of Cambridge with a Master in Laws.
