President William Ruto has asserted that he is fully in charge of his government and is not letting the challenges he is facing hold him back.
Speaking during his first church service since the anti-government protests began, Ruto promised to be the best leader Kenya has ever seen, guided by the lessons he is learning.
“I am fully in charge, I am stronger, I assure Kenyans that I will have a very effective cabinet to serve Kenyans, I will have a government of national unity, pray for me, my government is committed to moving Kenya forward,”
The President attended the service at Ndogino AIPCA Church in Nyandarua County, where he was met with a mixture of applause and murmurs from the congregation.
The church is located near Ndururi Primary School, where Ruto was confronted by protesting Gen Zs a few weeks ago.
Ruto used the opportunity to promise to fund the completion of the church project, which has been affected by the ban on harambees.
“I have seen you really struggle to build this church. But for the remaining part, leave it to me. I am instructing my Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and the church leadership to meet and see how much is needed to complete the church so that I can write a cheque,”
He also warned police and Interior Ministry officials to take action against the sale of poisonous alcohol, stating that those responsible would be held personally accountable.
The President also vowed to prioritize the fight against alcoholism, making it a top priority across the country. He stated that he has made deliberate changes in the National Police Service to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
Ruto also addressed the issue of Nyandarua’s administrative status, saying that all development projects initiated by his administration will be completed. He specifically mentioned four markets worth Sh200 million that will be completed by next year.
The President’s visit to Nyandarua comes as tensions between his administration and opposition groups continue to simmer. Despite the challenges, Ruto remains confident that his government will emerge stronger and more effective as a result of these “eye-openers”.
